Green Life Buildings (GLB), the company behind a revolutionary advanced panelised building system, has appointed Gethin Carey as its Regional Business Development Manager.
Gethin, who has worked in the construction sector including Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) for many years, comes on board as the GLB M2 system gains momentum with UK developers.
The GLB system uses world class and unique to the UK insulated panels where the design means the insulation enhances the strength and resilience of the panels, allowing more space available for insulation, and less of other materials need be used.
Once in position onsite, they only require a thin layer of concrete applied to both faces. This system makes the panels the lightest to handle of any building system (per square metre) and provides unmatched properties for resilience, safety, comfort, speed of build and low carbon.
Gethin is tasked with looking after Wales, the West Midlands, and the South West and it’s the opportunities the system can potentially open-up in Wales that excites him the most.
“I have worked with just about all methods of construction including ICF methods for many years, and the reason I’m here is because I absolutely love the GLB product,” explained Gethin.
“There is an acknowledged shortfall of at least 60,000 homes in Wales, which will be confirmed when all Local Development Plans are finalised. There have been a lot of local planning developments passed recently and a lot of people are looking for a Modern Method of Construction (MMC) as brick and block is too time consuming if this shortfall is to be made up.
“With the GLB M2 system we’ve got an opportunity to build homes that offer the best characteristics to suit your needs and even a bespoke home can be completed within three months, which can go a long way to sorting a lot of problems with the housing shortage, so there is a huge opportunity.”
The system ticks all the boxes for councils, architects, developers, and social housing projects, with three different councils in Wales already showing a great interest in the product, as MMC are in the spotlight even more.
“We will be opening our first training centre here in Wales too. I’ve built with all modern methods of construction and looking forward to the opportunity to start training with the GLB system. Everyone should look at this system.”
GLB Managing Director Chris Williams said of the appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Gethin to the GLB team. He brings a huge amount of experience from within the industry and has hit the ground running. He has a great enthusiasm for the product and we’re looking forward to Gethin driving the product into Wales, the West Midlands and the South West.”
