When building and construction company Kaskon needed to build a three-bedroom bungalow in Eastry, they turned to Green Life Buildings (GLB) – and the GLB M2 panelised advanced building system – to help.

GLB manufacture and supply the world class and unique to the UK insulated panels where the design means the insulation enhances the strength and resilience of the panels, allowing more space available for insulation, and less of other materials need to be used.

Once in position onsite, they only require a thin layer of concrete applied to both faces. This system makes the panels the lightest to handle of any building system (per square metre) and provides unmatched properties for resilience, safety, comfort, speed of build and low carbon.

The panels can form walls, floors, landings, roofs, stairs, and internal partitions and they can be made to any specification and tailored to work with any design.

Bradley Isherwood, Managing Director of the Kent-based Kaskon Ltd, said: “We have been using Green Life Building’s (GLB) M2 system for two years and the system has been a revelation for many of the projects we have used it on – and Eastry was no different.

“We used floor panels and single panels on the bungalow, which was 915 sqft/85m2 and it took us just a single day to put all the walls up and just a single afternoon to put the floor panels down.

“From experience, using the GLB system is 70% quicker than traditional building materials and methods and structurally the buildings are bulletproof. From the groundworks to ready to sell, it took just six months.”

The system also came into its own when it came to difficulties Kaskon found in storage and unloading the product to a site that had challenging access. The panels, which weigh no more than 5kgs per square metre before concrete coating, were able to be easily hand-carried onto the site.

Kaskon is currently using the GLB M2 system’s double panels for 10 four-storey houses, including basements, in Sussex, and has proposed to use it in two more projects on the horizon.

“Building with the GLB panels, and then applying the right amount of concrete, saves so much time and aggravation,” added Bradley. “It’s so easy to build with and GLB are always on the phone whenever we needed them.”

Chris Williams, MD of GLB, said: “The material science behind the GLB/M2 system, which is lightweight but has a compression strength of at least 10 times that of a breezeblock, is the perfect material to build with and is quicker, greener, and cheaper than traditional bricks and mortar or steel or timber frame construction.

“We are delighted that Kaskon has benefitted from using the GLB M2 system and they see it as the best way to build moving forward. The completed bungalow in Eastry looks hugely impressive.”
